Welcome to Frövifors Papermill Museum – Sweden’s only industrial papermill museum! Here the past and the present meet in a unique industrial milieu. Explore the machine hall from the early 1900s, which operated up until 1980 when the modern cardboard mill was built wall to wall with the old papermill. Visiting the museum gives you a feeling of how the earlier paper industry functioned and what it was like to work here, while the industry still lives on next door.

The museum has several fascinating exhibitions on various forms of packaging. Tsutsumi displays Japanese packaging art – a unique collection in Europe. Ölburksutställningen, (the Beer Can Collection) is a display of over 22000 cans from 1938-2005 and offers a fun mix of design and nostalgia. Our main exhibition on the history of packaging follows the development from old-style natural materials to more modern packaging.

During this year there will also be several exhibits of paper art on show, from smaller gallery exhibitions to large paper art exhibitions, showing from the end of June to the end of October. Here you will experience how contemporary artists use paper in creative and unexpected ways – an inspiring experience for all ages.

For children there are masses of fun activities: they can dress up in the role of paper workers in the machine hall and undertake tasks, and in the creative workshop, Gläntan, they can cut, build, fold and create with paper. During the year the museum’s handmade paper workshop is open on certain days, when both adults and children can try their hands at making their own paper – a fun memory from your visit.

When it is time for a break you can enjoy something tasty in the Museum café, and in the Museum shop there are unique paper products, hand crafts and gifts to take home.

July 1–October 3, Wednesday–Saturday, 10:00 am–4:00 pm
October 5–October 30, Monday–Friday, 10:00 am–4:00 pm

During this period, the museum is open with set opening hours. No advance booking is required.
